Roland Brockmann is a Berlin-based Journalist, Photographer and Video Producer. Born in Hamburg, he studied Sociology before moving to Berlin in 1994 as a journalist, where he first worked as an editor and later as a freelance reporter. Since then, he has been reporting from more than fifty countries on four continents – including for GQ, Mare, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Tageszeitung, Die Welt. In 1999 he first reported from Africa. Between 2002 and 2004 he lived as a foreign aid worker in Dar es Salaam and from 2005 to 2006 as a freelance correspondent in Nairobi. Since 2011 he has been working as a cameraman and photographer for numerous charity organizations. He has reported on Boko Haram refugees, coltan mines in Congo, Land Grabbing in Sierra Leone or refugee camps in South Sudan, among others. In January 2018 his Text- and Photobook "Real People of East Africa" is published.
