Biography

Sunaina Kumar is a Delhi-based independent journalist. She has worked as a reporter and editor for The Indian Express and Open Magazine. She has written on issues of social justice, development and gender for BBC, Al Jazeera, Vice News, Die Zeit, The Atlantic, Pacific Standard. She contributes analytic pieces on foreign policy for the European think-tank European Council on Foreign Relations. She was Media Ambassador India-Germany in 2016.

Silicosis - The Silent Killer

Silicosis is a lethal lung disease caused by harmful silica-containing dusts. The project will investigate how it attacks workers in Indian mines from where stones are sold as kitchen plates, cobblestones or tombstones in Germany.
